Keto Coffee Help You Lose Weight?

Could Keto Coffee Help You Lose Weight?

This new type of coffee contains protein.

Keto dieters have taken their love of coffee one step further by stating that Keto Coffee, a bulletproof powdered version of coffee, helps Keto dieters reach ketosis quickly. But does it really help you lose weight?

The short answer is not really. Simply adding keto coffee to a regular, non-keto diet does not lead to weight loss. In fact, I would do the exact opposite

Rachel Daniels, registered dietitian and senior director of nutrition at Virtual Health Partners, said, "I would not recommend keto coffee to the average person who shows up to lose weight."

“Grass-fed butter is going to add extra saturated fat to the diet, which in and of itself doesn't do any weight loss miracles. Adding fat without reducing carbs will not keep your body in ketosis. "

So what does keto coffee do?

Keto coffee is based on the principle that a high-fat diet helps the body fight ketosis faster. Ketosis is a metabolic condition in which the body burns fat for energy. This is the goal of many keto dieters who hope to lose weight quickly.

The ketogenic diet is a diet high in fat, low in carbohydrates and moderate in protein. It forces the body to burn fat for fuel instead of glucose, a carbohydrate energy source in the body.

In the case of the ketogenic diet, when carbohydrates are limited, the body begins to break down fat stores when the liver produces ketones, an organic compound that can be used as a backup fuel source. As more fat is burned to meet the body's daily energy needs, you begin to lose weight.

Keto is rich in coffee butter and medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil.

The liver produces ketones from these fats, but only during regular carbohydrate intake. Therefore, they are not immediately converted to ketones.

Additionally, these MCTs help dieters feel full and prolonged, which can prevent overeating throughout the day.

"This, combined with the caffeine in coffee, can make the ketogenic dieter feel great," said Kristen Mancinelli, registered dietitian and author of The Ketogenic Diet.

"Some of the results are greater mental clarity, greater alertness, more energy, less hunger and greater ability to concentrate."

It is important to note that the caffeine in coffee produces more of these changes than the added fat.

But don't think a simple cup of Joe and Keto coffee can be interchangeable.

"Too much keto coffee can have the opposite effect, Mancinili explained. Dieters should limit themselves to one cup a day and drink it in place of meals, not as a snack or drink."

Technically speaking, a meal replacement should have around 300 calories along with some other nutritional value.

Furthermore, excessive intake of extra fatty coffee can not only cause weight gain, but also gastrointestinal upset.

Keep this information in mind and be sure to speak with your doctor before making any changes to your diet with potential health risks.

Where do you get your ketones from the count?

Although coffee is naturally a low-calorie metabolic booster, there is basically no "keto" in coffee.

MPT Oil and Butter: These are the fats in keto coffee that help keto dieters get most of their daily calories from fat and enter ketosis.

Still, the quickest and most effective way to reach ketosis is to limit your carbohydrate intake quickly or strictly.

"The goal of the ketogenic diet for weight loss is not to supply ketones from any external source like fat bombs or ketogenic coffee or MCT oil, but to make ketones from your own body fat."

Most dieters will try to get ketones from both their body and dietary fat. Excessive fat intake can not only limit the amount of inflammation your body burns, but it can also increase your fat stores.

Should you try keto coffee?

According to Daniels, black coffee, whether with low-fat milk or flavored almond milk, is the best option for most people looking to lose a few pounds.

But if you follow a strict ketogenic diet, keto coffee can benefit your body.

If taken properly, high-fat coffee can help certain dieters increase their fat intake and reach deeper levels of ketosis. Next time you make a cup of coffee add some butter, MCT oil or coconut oil. This will have the same general effect as the powder version.

However, keep in mind that butter and coconut oil are considered sources of saturated fats. Current dietary guidelines still suggest limiting saturated fat in your diet for optimal health.

Regardless of how much you drink keto coffee, it takes time to reach ketosis. It depends on the depth of ketosis as well as the individual and completely:

Your genes

Level of training

Physical activity

You are strictly following the ketogenic diet.
