Oatmeal Diet: Weight Loss Plan

Does the Oatmeal Diet Get Real Weight Loss Results?

Overview

Oatmeal is made from dried oats. Oats are considered a whole grain with a number of nutritional benefits. Oatmeal is the favorite breakfast of many people, especially during the winter season. Its flavor and nutrient content can be increased by adding fruits or other elements.

Given these facts, it is not surprising that a diet was created around oats. But is the oatmeal diet healthy and does it give you real results in weight loss?

Let's take a closer look at what the oatmeal diet is and if it is something you will want to try to achieve your weight loss goals.

What is the oatmeal diet?

The oatmeal diet focuses on oats, as the name suggests. But there is more than just eating oatmeal. The basic concept is to eat oatmeal as a main dish for one or two meals a day.

There is also the oatmeal diet plan that includes two phases. These are:

Phase 1:

Eat oatmeal three meals a day for the first week. During this time, you should eat only whole grain oats and not instant oats. You can have some fruit with your oatmeal and as a snack.

Phase 2:

After the first week or phase, you will eat oatmeal for one or two meals a day with a healthy, low-fat option for the other meals. More fruits and vegetables are added in this phase and you are allowed to eat instant oatmeal.

The other option is a six-day meal plan that includes oatmeal for two of the daily meals. This is similar to phase two of the two phase option. I would just skip the full seven days of oatmeal for each meal.

What do you eat on the oatmeal diet?

When preparing your oatmeal, the recommended serving size is 1/2 cup. For breakfast and lunch, oatmeal is your main entree.

It does allow you to add or eat a small amount of skim milk and some fruit, as well as low-fat yogurt. Cinnamon is also a great addition for flavor.

You will have a snack in the morning, which is generally fresh fruit, and an afternoon snack with raw vegetables or nuts.

For dinner, the plan includes some type of grilled chicken, fish, a small lean steak, or even a turkey burger with zucchini fries. And, as a treat, allow for a low-calorie dessert after dinner.

What are the health benefits of eating the oatmeal diet?

As mentioned, oats are whole grains and can be part of a healthy diet. They also provide fiber. Half a cup of oat flakes cooked in water contains the following nutrients:

2 grams of dietary fiber

3 grams of protein

0 grams of sugars

Oatmeal also contains 2 percent of the RDA for calcium and 6 percent for iron. They are low in calories and have only 1.5 grams of fat.

The benefits of eating oatmeal include reducing the risk of heart disease and colorectal cancer. Whole grains like oatmeal can also help lower blood pressure and aid in digestion. Oatmeal can definitely be part of a healthy diet.

Risks of oatmeal

Oats and oats provide a lot of benefits for your overall health. However, there are some risks to be aware of while eating oatmeal

As always, you should consult your doctor before starting any diet plan. This includes a diet plan that is considered as healthy as oatmeal. Tell your doctor about your treatment history and any of your treatment conditions.

The oatmeal diet is a very low-calorie diet and some doctors can find very low calorie counts to maintain a healthy diet. Therefore, you may need to increase your daily calorie intake by adding more foods than listed in the oatmeal diet plan.

The oatmeal diet is limited. The monotony of eating oatmeal for one or two meals a day can make it difficult to comply. This can make it harder for you to lose weight.

The risks of eating oatmeal can be reduced by adjusting the meal plan. In addition to increasing your calorie intake to the amount recommended by your doctor, you can add more variety by using extra vegetables and other healthy side dishes, including a variety of fruits.

This strategy can help with the monotony of such a restricted diet.

Will the oatmeal diet help you lose weight?

Properly followed, oatmeal diet can help in your overall weight loss plan. Meal plans are low in calories and fat and include healthy eating options.

Oatmeal itself can help you lose weight as it will help you feel longer than other foods. The fibrous ingredients in oats can also help the digestive system.

Oatmeal is a low-cost alternative, which will make it easier to follow than a weight loss system so it costs money to take part or requires expensive special meals.

Like any healthy lifestyle or diet plan, it is also recommended that you include some exercise every day. This will increase the number of calories you burn daily, as well as keep your body fit and reduce the chances of muscle loss.

Bottom line

Oatmeal is a good option to include in any healthy diet. It will improve your heart health and your overall health. If done correctly, the oatmeal diet can be an effective way to lose weight.
